When We Are Closed
Non-urgent advice:
Your local out of hours service is Cumbria Health on Call (CHOC). This is available when the surgery is closed between: 18:30 and 08:00 the following day – Monday to Friday. We also close some afternoons for staff training and you can use NHS 111 for advice.
Weekend cover starts at 18:30 Friday through to 08:00 Monday. Cumbria Health on Call (CHOC) also provides cover for Bank Holidays.
If you have a medical problem during these hours telephone 111 or use NHS 111 online and they will guide you to the best service for your needs. For hearing impaired users call you can use Relay UK.Your call will be logged by the telephonist and you will then speak to a registered nurse who will give you medical advice. If it is necessary for you to be examined by a doctor you will be booked an appointment to be seen at the CHOC centre at Furness General Hospital. In certain circumstances the doctor may visit you.Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
