Receiving messages in the NHS App

We use a company called Accurx to send and receive messages to you and this can arrive either by text (SMS), or in the NHS App if you have already downloaded it. We prefer you to use the NHS App, then the message is secure and arrives quicker, and is free of charge to you and the NHS.

How can I use Accurx via the NHS App?

There are several ways you can now use Accurx with the NHS App.

How can I receive messages and notifications via the NHS App?

In order to receive Batch Messages and Appointment Reminders via the NHS App, you will need to have your app notifications switched on. Follow these instructions to switch on your notifications, then you will see when we have messaged you.

What happens if I don’t have notifications switched on?

If you have the NHS app downloaded but notifications are switched off, you will receive an SMS instead and be able to view the same message in the NHS app as well.

What if I don’t see my notifications?

Not to worry! If an NHS App message is not opened within 24 hours we will automatically send an SMS to your phone instead.

I need help, where can I go for more support?

You can get in touch with the Accurx User Support team by going to the Help Centre and clicking on the messenger icon in the bottom right-hand corner.

If you are experiencing an issue specific to the NHS App, you can contact the NHS app Support Team by going to the NHS website and selecting the option to contact the Help Desk

Proxy Access: Accessing someone else’s information

As a parent, family member or carer, you may be able to access services for someone else. We call this having proxy access. We can set this up for you if you are both registered with us.
